Prenatal experiences and the first 1,000 days of a child’s life determine much of their future success, yet DC's support for families doesn’t start comprehensively until pre-kindergarten at age three, which is too late. Investing in the health and educational development of infants and toddlers truly affects us all --  such as families who struggle to afford high quality childcare, early childhood educators whose important work has been undervalued and underpaid for too long, businesses who rely on employees having reliable childcare options to get the job done, and medical professionals striving to meet the demands of providing cutting edge interventions that address persistent health and developmental disparities.

When we strengthen programs that support all children and families from birth to age three, we reduce financial hardships for pregnant and parenting families, reduce stress in communities, and reduce racial inequities in health and educational achievement.

Join our effort to fight for and win full funding for the Birth-to-Three For All DC Act of 2018!

This year we are advocating for $30 million in the FY20 budget, in out-years we will work for additional necessary investments.

While an official campaign name, and branding will be rolled out with our launch later this year, we invite you to join us on the ground floor of this effort. The campaign is co-chaired by DC Working Families, Jews United for Justice, and SPACES in Action.

This campaign is committed to racial equity in its fight for full funding for programs that will transform support for families with infants and toddlers; our leadership and campaign staffing is majority Women of Color.
